The Vessels: Where Craftsmanship Meets Container

A HOMM candle doesn't end when the wax is gone. Discover the artisans behind our vessels and why we believe a candle's home matters as much as its flame.

When the last flicker fades and the final wisp of smoke curls upward, what remains? In most candles, an empty jar destined for recycling at best, landfill at worst. At HOMM, what remains is an object of beauty.

Philosophy of the Vessel

We've always believed that a candle's container should be worthy of display long after the wax is gone. This isn't about sustainability as marketing (though our vessels are infinitely reusable). It's about respect — for materials, for craftsmanship, and for the spaces our candles inhabit.

The Artisans

Hand-Blown Glass Our glass vessels come from a third-generation glassblower in Murano, Italy. Each piece is individually blown, meaning no two are precisely identical. The subtle variations in thickness and the way light passes through the glass are what make each vessel unmistakably handmade.

Brushed Brass Our brass vessels are milled from solid brass stock by a family workshop in Birmingham, England — a city with over two centuries of metalworking heritage. Each vessel is hand-brushed to achieve its distinctive satin finish, then sealed with a clear lacquer to prevent tarnishing.

Frosted Crystal Our crystal vessels begin as clear lead-free crystal, hand-ground and polished by artisans in the Czech Republic. The frosted finish is achieved through acid-etching, creating a surface that diffuses candlelight into a soft, ethereal glow.

Matte Black Ceramic Our ceramic vessels are wheel-thrown by a studio potter in Stoke-on-Trent, the historic heart of English ceramics. The matte black glaze is our proprietary formula, designed to absorb light rather than reflect it — making the flame the only source of illumination.

After the Flame

Once your candle has burned its course, clean the vessel with warm water and a soft cloth. The remaining wax will melt away easily. What's left is a beautiful object that can serve as a pencil holder, a small vase, a container for jewelry, or simply a sculptural element on a shelf.

We design our vessels to outlast our candles. That's the true measure of sustainability — not how something is disposed of, but whether it needs to be disposed of at all.
